Have you considered starting your own reselling business, but you didn’t seem to find the courage yet? Here is the story of one of our customers to get you inspired!

Meet Martin, CEO of E-KIMA Hungary Kft. Martin went a long way since he started his reselling business, and he now employs 17 people!

Tell us a little about yourself and your business.

I started reselling online in 2011 while at university, and had ups and downs until 2018, but after that my company and I started growing, and I am currently employing 17 people. I also own a local pub and software company, but my main focus is the Outlet store which is growing fast.

During the years I learnt something important: relationships matter the most in personal and business as well, so having a good business partner almost makes the biggest difference! Your team is also very important – without them it’s impossible to grow beyond someone’s personal limit.

When did you start and what inspired you to start a reselling business?

I was always interested in the reselling industry, I started to sell stuff online as early as 2005. So you can say that I have it in my blood.

Do you have a physical store or do you sell online?

We had a physical store, but the demand in our local village was weak, so we decided to turn it into a pick up location, and use the extra space for storage.

Having a store and managing your inventory is tough, but manageable. If you want to move stuff fast, it’s probably the best take on the business, but I had more experience in online selling, so we took the e-commerce path.

What are the significant differences between the current platforms you sell on, and which do you prefer and why?

We only sell on our own platform, built by myself. To be fair, my knowledge is kind of limited in web development, but if you want something you can do it! I am always looking to expand our business to target more people, that’s why we will launch our site in Poland as well.

What do you find more difficult about your business?

Finding out what the actual product is :-D. It’s really hard to identify some products and it takes

a lot of time to get them online.

What do you find to be most rewarding about your business?

Repurposing products which are in perfectly good condition to use. This way we don’t grow the waste created by the mass production of some companies. And working with my team!

What do you do to promote your business?

Ads, online remarketing, local promotion, and social media.

How do you balance your personal life with your business?

Maybe that’s the hardest part of all, because sometimes it feels like we have endless work ahead of us. My fiancé is very supportive and loving – we have ups and downs when it comes to balancing business vs personal life – but with a loving and caring partner it can get easier. She will work with me soon, so it’s a win-win.

What do you plan to accomplish with your business in the next years?

We plan to manufacture our own products starting next year in Q3 2024 and build a warehouse for production and storage.

What advice would you give to people who want to start a reselling business?

If you are going to go into this business, you need to know that it’s a lot of hassle, but in the end, you are going to love it. Don’t forget to always make time to enjoy the beautiful finds in the pallets!
